The Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino opened its doors on May 3rd, 1999. The casino was built on the site of the Sands Hotel, which was purchased by Sheldon Adelson in 1996, and demolished. From the rubble rose the beautiful $1.5 billion Venetian, one of the most luxurious and expensive resorts in Las Vegas.

Although The Orleans is not located in the center of the Las Vegas tourist scene, it offers free shuttle service throughout the day and evening to the Las Vegas strip. Construction began on the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa in Las Vegas in 2003. The casino opened on December 22, 2005 with the name South Coast. It was the first large resort that was south of the Strip and south of the airport. The resort was sold within a few months of its opening and the name was changed to South Point.
