 Elvis Aron Presley was born to parents Vernon and Gladys Presley on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Elvis had a twin brother who died at birth.
Elvis was closer to his mother because his father was in prison when he was a small boy.
At a very young age, Elvis and his family moved to Memphis, Tennessee where he would live the majority of his life.
Elvis graduated from Humes High School, in Memphis, in 1953.
Elvis' singing career began in 1954 at the legendary Sun Records in downtown Memphis.
 In 1955, Elvis was signed to the record label RCA Victor and by 1956 he was a sensation.
 1956 - "Love Me Tender" was released, Elvis' first movie and one of his most acclaimed.
 1957 - "Loving You" & "Jailhouse Rock" were released.
1958 - "King Creole" was released.

In March of 1958, Elvis was inducted into the U.S. Army and was assigned Serial Number 53310761. Days later, he received his famous GI haircut.
In August of 1958, Elvis' mother became ill with acute hepatitis and died soon after.
 In November of 1958, Elvis met Priscilla Beaulieu while he was stationed in Germany.
1960 - "G.I. Blues" & "Flaming Star" were released.
1961 - "Wild in the Country" & "Blue Hawaii" were released.
1962 - "Follow that Dream", "Kid Galahad" & "Girls! Girls! Girls!" were released.
In 1962, Priscilla flew out to see Elvis in L.A. It was the first time they had seen each other since his discharge from the army. That same year, her parents allowed her to spend the Christmas holidays with him.

 1964 - "Kissin' Cousins", "Roustabout" & "Viva Las Vegas" were released.
1965 - "Girl Happy", "Tickle Me" & "Harum Scarum" were released.
 1966 - "Frankie & Johnny", Paradise, Hawaiian Style" & "Spinout" were released.
In December of 1966, Elvis formally proposed to Priscilla.
1967 - "Easy Come, Easy Go", "Double Trouble" & "Clambake" were released.
 On May 1,1967 Elvis and Priscilla were married in Las Vegas, at the Aladdin Hotel, and they spent their honeymoon in Palm Springs.
1968 - "Stay Away, Joe", "Live a Little, Love a Little" & "Speedway" were released.
 On February 1st, 1968 Priscilla gave birth to Lisa Marie Presley, nine months to the day after she and Elvis wed. Lisa was to be their only child.
 In 1968, Elvis recorded the '68 Comeback Special' which was aired on television.
1969 - "Charro!", "The Trouble With Girls" & "Change of Habit" (Elvis' last movie) were released.
In June of 1971 the two-room house that Elvis was born in was opened to the public for touring. People are still able to tour it to this day.
In late 1971 to early 1972, Elvis and Priscilla separated. She moved out on her own and took Lisa Marie with her.
In July of 1972 their separation was formalized. Their divorce was pending and Elvis began to see Linda Thompson. She was to be his lady until late 1976.
 In January 1973 Elvis began filming 'Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii' which was aired on television on April 4, 1973.
October 7, 1973 the divorce was granted. Elvis and Priscilla remained close friends and he made time to see Lisa though Priscilla kept full custody.
From October 15 to November 1, 1973 Elvis was hospitalized with pneumonia, an enlarged colon and hepatitis. He had been battling bad health for a long time, mostly because of his dependency on prescription drugs. He was also battling weight problems.
Elvis was once again hospitalized for the same reason from January 29 to February 14, 1975.
Again Elvis was in the hospital, this time from August 18 to September 5, 1975. His health was slowly declining.
In early November 1976, Elvis and Linda Thompson split up.
In late November 1976, Elvis began to date Ginger Alden who remained his girlfriend up until his death.
 On August 16, 1977 Elvis returned to Graceland shortly after midnight. He had just come from the dentist's office. He layed down for a nap at 7:00 AM and a few hours later he was pronounced dead. His death was due to heart failure.
